A commodity exchange is an association, company, or body corporate that organises futures trading in commodities and is registered with SEBI (formerly the Forward Market Commission).
There are 24 commodity exchanges in India. The two national-level exchanges are: MCX (Multi Commodity Exchange of India, Mumbai) and NCDEX (National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, Mumbai).

Commodity markets are open to individual retail investors, traders, hedgers, and institutional investors. Anyone with an account at a registered broker like BnB Financial can participate.

A futures contract is a standardized agreement to buy or sell a commodity at a predetermined price at a specified date in the future. These contracts are traded on commodity exchanges like MCX and are used for both hedging and speculation.
Hedging is a risk management strategy where commodity traders or producers lock in a future price to protect themselves against adverse price movements. For example, a gold jeweller may sell gold futures to hedge against a potential fall in gold prices.
Margin is the initial deposit required to enter into a futures contract. It is a percentage of the total contract value and acts as a performance bond to ensure that both parties fulfil their obligations. MCX sets the margin requirements for each commodity.
You can open a trading account by contacting our team through the Contact Us form or calling us directly. You will need to complete KYC (Know Your Customer) documentation including PAN card, Aadhaar, bank account details, and proof of address. Our team will guide you through the entire process.
Documents required include: PAN Card, Aadhaar Card / Passport / Voter ID (Identity Proof), Bank Statement / Cancelled Cheque (Bank Proof), Recent passport-size photograph, and a signed Client Agreement Form. You can download the agreement form from our Downloads section.
